Ineffective Grasshopper Barrier

One last fence picture from the Kamloops collection, and then I'll give everyone a rest.

On the Friday afternoon I went out for a bit of a tour to the south of the RV park and found Campbell Creek Road. Drove down it quite a ways but never did find the creek. I did, however, see this fine fence and stopped to take a couple of pictures. As I stepped off the road into the grass alongside I set off a chain reaction of hundreds of grasshoppers with every step. It was really quite comical. Take a step and all the little critters would jump. Some away from me, some straight at me - it seemed like it didn't matter if they headed towards or away from danger, just so long as they did it jumping. Anyway, I liked the look of this image as a black and white, which I think gives it an more rustic feel. Posted by Picasa

You should come visit us down in Australia, then you can take pictures of the rabbit-proof fence in Western Australia.

For those who don't know. the fence was built to keep the rabbits - they were introduced years ago and are a real pest, in some states it is illegal to own rabbits - and other animals out of the pastoral areas in Western Australia. There are three of them. The major one runs north to south, along the length of the state.

Also, there is a great Auzzie film of the same name (rabbit-proof fence) you should all watch.
