Lac du Bois Grasslands Provincial Park

I got back home yesterday from a trip up to Kamloops to watch my nephew in the BC Summer Games and have been busy processing pictures, some (many?) of which will appear here or on Bottled Light. For the moment, this is the first to be processed in photoshop that is ready for sharing.

This was taken from the side of a hill that my nephew and I climbed all the way to the top in the hot bright sun. A piece of cake for him, teenaged athlete that he is, but I was puffing pretty hard by the half way point (we climbed up the back side, not visible here). It's hard to get a sense of the size of the hill, but at the top it appeared to be at least 70 meters down to the small lake.

One of the other things of note was... at the lower levels, such as where the car was parked, there were incredible numbers of grasshoppers in the grass, but almost none of the hoppy little dudes at the top of the hill - which was just as grassy. This struck me as odd for some reason. Posted by Picasa
