Aphid Buffet
One of the neat things about a good macro lens is that you'll often find more in the picture than you saw when you took it. Certainly you end up with more than you can see with the naked eye, or even what you can see through the viewfinder, which yields the occasional surprise.
I'd been trying to follow this ladybug, which kept up a brisk pace making for a challenging shot, given the shallow depth of field at this distance. It was not apparent at the time, but I see now that it was having lunch on the run. When setting up the shot I knew about the larger aphid lower down and thought I could make out the shapes of a few others but I had no idea that there was a veritable ladybug buffet on this seedpod, and I imagine that all the other pods were similarly inhabited.

Seriously, one of the best pics in ages - life on the bug scale - I have never seen a scene such as this, and I thought ladybugs were sweet - aphid killers - hehe
