The Hunted?
This little fella (well, for all I know it could be the female of the species) was that rarest of birds - practically begging to have its picture taken. It allowed me to get quite close and chirped and sang all the while. Most of the other shots I got had his mouth open, but I liked this one best. I suppose between me and the hawk maybe it realized that I was the lesser of the two to be afraid of. And he is small, about half the size of a sparrow (which I might post tomorrow).
If anyone knows the species of this little guy, please leave me a comment.

Thanks Mary - now we know more than we did before! I suppose if I'm going to continue to take pictures of the local wildlife I'll have to get a book or something one of these days. Or just rely on people like you to share the knowledge. :)
