Farm Country #3

Third and final image, I think, from Sunday morning's trip to Pitt Meadows.

This one was taken 12 minutes and 10 seconds after the sun popped over the mountains, or 7 minutes and 50 seconds after the first Farm Country picture I posted.

If you compare the two pictures you can see how quickly the light changes in the morning; there's just 15 minutes or so of this wonderful light - if you're lucky - and then you might as well pack it all up and go home...

Well, maybe not go home, but the magic light is gone for the day. And yet still I got up just after three a.m. and drove for a good part of an hour in the hopes that I'd be in the right place to take best advantage of this short-lived light. I'm beginning to question my sanity!

Realistically, I probably wasn't in the best place, but I did try to make the most of where I was. You can easily miss the whole thing while moving from one location to another.

Some day I'd like to get some shots of the city in this early morning light, but the problem, I've found, lies in the choice of vantage point. Or more correctly, the lack of access to anything suitable. Stanley Park has generally been disappointing, the north shore and Lionsgate Bridge are too far away for what I have in mind. The Seabus might work, but it doesn't run early enough...

If anyone has any suggestions where you can get a good view of the downtown core (not just of the condos that hug the waterfront of most of the west end) I'd be obliged if you'd leave a comment. Posted by Picasa
